How to Get a Dog to Follow Me?

Spend plenty of time playing with your dog so it gradually trusts and depends on you; then it will want to follow you both at home and outside. On walks, train it not to run ahead, if it passes you, tighten the leash and stand still, then reward and praise it when it moves behind you.

Practice in an open area: off-leash, run with the dog and suddenly change direction, rewarding it when it keeps up.
