Puppies have weak immune systems, so if they are not very dirty, bathing is generally not recommended. For a soiled spot, wipe it clean with a warm, damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a hairdryer. When the coat is greasy, a pet dry-shampoo powder can be used for a simple clean.

If you do bathe the puppy, prepare lukewarm water and a pet-specific shampoo, be gentle, and do not make the bath too long. Afterward, towel-dry and fully blow-dry the coat to avoid a chill that could lead to a cold.
