How often do discus fish breed?

Under suitable conditions, discus fish can breed once a month. To encourage breeding, prepare a dedicated breeding tank, select mature and healthy discus for pairing, and once paired place them in the tank while keeping the water at about 26 C and the environment quiet so spawning is not disturbed. After the female lays eggs, the male fertilizes them, and the fertilized eggs usually hatch in about 48 hours.
