I. How long until pigeon eggs hatch?

Usually 18–19 days. It varies with temperature and clutch size. Breeding season is spring to autumn; warmer weather means more clutches. In good conditions pigeons lay 6–8 times a year, 2 eggs each. Spring/summer eggs hatch in 17–18 days; late-autumn eggs without warmth may take ~20 days.

II. Precautions while hatching

1. Keep it warm and dry

Hold the room near 30°C. Too cold lengthens hatching or stops chicks from hatching. The hen and mate use body heat to warm eggs, so keep the nest dry and warm to avoid heat loss and dropped immunity.

2. Don’t disturb often

Keep quiet; don’t move the eggs. Frequent disturbance may make the pigeons stop sitting.

3. Ample food and water

During hatching give plenty of food and water. For the first 7 days after hatching the hen secretes pigeon milk, burning much energy — offer high-calorie foods: wheat bran, sunflower seed, peas, corn, rapeseed.

4. Care for the chicks

The chick stage is about 28–35 days; feed special pigeon formula or suitable bird food daily. Give a dry, warm, well-ventilated space for healthy growth.

Normally pigeons hatch on their own with no need to interfere — just keep it dry and clean to avoid disease. After about half a month of care, you’ll see thriving, lively chicks.
