How Long Should a Yellow-Spotted River Turtle Sunbathe?

A yellow-spotted river turtle only needs about 2 to 3 hours of sun per day. Avoid intense, prolonged exposure that could cause heatstroke or dehydration. These turtles enjoy basking, and moderate sun promotes calcium absorption, hardens the shell, and disinfects to reduce illness. Therefore, during keeping the owner must provide a basking platform so the turtle can climb up to sunbathe or rest anytime.
