How long before mating should a dog be dewormed?

Deworming is not advised during pregnancy, so deworm the dog about a week before mating to prevent parasite infection. But if worms are passed after deworming, extend the mating time, because passing worms means infection; although worms are expelled, eggs may remain and redevelop, so wait until fully dewormed before mating.
