The Xiasi dog is a well-known hunting breed popular in the Miao villages of Guizhou. It has a very keen sense of smell and strong tracking ability; although not large and less powerful at biting than other hounds, it works as a team and can jointly resist large wild boar.

The hunting terrier is fierce, enduring, fast, and small, making it better at hunting small prey like pheasants and rabbits.
