How can I tell if my cat has a fever without a thermometer?

Without a thermometer, the owner can touch areas such as the cat’s ear flaps and groin to judge its temperature by feel. When a cat has a fever, these areas are usually hot to the touch, whereas normally they feel just warm; if they feel burning, the cat very likely has a fever.

If so, cool the cat promptly with a cold compress. If the fever persists or keeps returning, take the cat to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
