From the X-ray we cannot confirm what is in the stomach. If a suspected mass is still inside, urgent gastric endoscopy can be done; once a foreign body is found and removed, recovery odds are fairly high.

To be safe, first do a barium study to map the object’s location, size and shape, then decide treatment. If a real foreign body cannot pass on its own, surgery is needed, since self-healing is unlikely.

Generally, if the dog eats and defecates normally with no abnormality, conservative and symptomatic care can help it pass the object another way.
