Dog Deworming Guide

1 Overview

Normally a dog should be dewormed first at 20-30 days, internal and external, one month apart. As an adult, internal plus external every 3 months. If you walk it often, deworm every 1-2 months, or use an external spray before outings to greatly control fleas, ticks, lice.

If a newly homed puppy, observe health a week, then deworm; puppy stage needs extra care.

Inside and out: Revolution

For a dog’s first deworm, most owners choose Revolution. First, made by Pfizer (same company as the Vanguard 5/8 and rabies vaccines we use). Second, very safe, usable on pregnant females. Third, internal-external via skin absorption – a boon for hard-to-pill dogs. Revolution has specs by weight.
