Do cats have belly buttons?

Cats have belly buttons. A belly button is generally the scar left where the umbilical cord detached after birth; kittens are born with an umbilical cord too, so naturally they have a belly button as well.

A cat’s belly button is in the middle of the belly, about 5 mm across, but unlike a human’s it is usually flat or slightly raised, very smooth, and covered by dense fur, so we usually cannot see it — it only becomes obvious when the fur is shaved for spaying or an ultrasound.
