Can rabbits eat watermelon?

Rabbits cannot eat watermelon. First, watermelon’s water content is too high and easily disrupts a rabbit’s digestive system, causing diarrhea and dehydration. Second, its sugar content is too high, adding metabolic burden and harming both the gut and teeth.

If you do give a rabbit watermelon, only offer a small amount of the white rind. Rabbits are herbivores that need fiber-rich food; too much moisture in the diet can cause diarrhea, so normally avoid overfeeding fresh fruit and vegetables.
