Can cats eat scallions (green onions)?

Cats cannot eat scallions, and they should also avoid onions, chives, and similar foods. These contain certain sulfides that damage the hemoglobin in a cat’s body, pushing the cat into an anemic state and, in severe cases, even causing death.

So during cat ownership you must never let your cat eat these sulfide-containing foods. If your cat accidentally eats some, take it to a veterinary hospital for the relevant examination promptly.
