Blood Python
1 Overview
The blood python (Python curtus) is a short, massively built python from Southeast Asia, coloured in deep reds and browns. It is famed for a defensive temperament and a powerful bite.

2 Appearance
Heavy-bodied and relatively short (usually under 2 m), with a broad head and a striking pattern of dark blotches on a red-brown to maroon ground.
3 Care & Temperament
Needs a secure terrestrial enclosure with warm, humid conditions and a water basin. Handle deliberately; many are defensive but tame with consistent, calm work.
Mouth rot follows poor hygiene or stress; maintain cleanliness.
4 Habitat & Environment
Tropical lowland forest and swamp. Warm, humid, with a temperature gradient and a humid retreat.
5 Diet & Feeding
Feeds on appropriately sized mammals and birds at intervals scaled to size. Adults eat less often; never overfeed this stocky species.
