1 Causes
Postpartum urinary dribbling is usually caused by deficiency of qi and blood after delivery and insufficient central qi.
2 Three Patterns
Qi-deficiency type: frequent urination or incontinence with clear urine, a tired and weak cat, and a thin pale tongue coating. Kidney-deficiency type: severe frequency, sometimes a dozen times a day, occasional incontinence, pale urine, sore loin and limb joints, cold limbs, and a pale thin tongue. Birth-trauma type: follows a difficult labor; the cat cannot control urination, with mild pain and blood streaks at first that fade as the pain worsens, and a thin white tongue.
3 Treatment
The Decoction of Angelica, Cnidium, Bupleurum, and Cimicifuga (Guixiong Chaisheng Tang) usually cures in one dose. Formula: angelica 15 g and cnidium 15 g, bupleurum 8 g and cimicifuga 8 g (dose for a 1.5–2.5 kg cat). Decoct and dose on an empty stomach, twice daily, 10 ml each time. Angelica and cnidium nourish and move blood; bupleurum and cimicifuga raise clear yang and lift the central qi.
