2. Chemical disinfectants: Also the most common daily method – simple and cheap. Use pet-specific disinfectant on supplies and a pet-safe one for the environment to build a clean space friendly and effective.

How to Use Pet Disinfectant

1. Even if you are a clean freak, don’t douse the whole home at once after buying disinfectant – it’s a big job and harms pets. Even odorless, non-toxic disinfectant covers the pet’s own scent after full-environment use; for scent-marking pets, frequent removal of familiar scent causes panic and ongoing anxiety.

2. Disinfect the pet environment once or twice a week, diluting per the label to a safe level. Before disinfecting, clean dust and hair, then wipe or mop.

3. Some owners disinfect the dog after walks – spray diluted solution on a soft cloth and wipe the body and paws, or use pet disinfectant wipes. Cats rarely go out and groom themselves; cat saliva even disinfects somewhat, so no need to disinfect the cat’s body.
