What do red swordtails eat?

In their natural environment, red swordtails mainly eat small fish, shrimp, crabs, and earthworms, and occasionally some shellfish and algae. Under artificial keeping, the keeper can use pellet feed as the staple while adding live food and vegetables.

The keeper can offer appropriate live foods such as tubifex worms, daphnia, and bloodworms, but must disinfect the live food and keep it fresh, avoiding spoiled or rotten food for the swordtails.
