How long can a dog with brucellosis live?

Canine brucellosis is treated in 14-day courses and responds well. It is a zoonotic disease – if a dog is infected, the owner and family can catch it through contact with the dog’s broken skin or mucous membranes, mainly via the digestive tract. Once diagnosed, the dog must be isolated and treated immediately with tetracycline, chloramphenicol, or spectinomycin. Pregnant dogs (or pregnant owners) with brucellosis are at high risk of miscarriage.
