When are a cat’s spay stitches removed?

Generally, a female cat’s spay stitches can be removed about a week after surgery. A male cat’s neuter wound is small and usually not stitched, so no removal is needed; it heals in about 3 days and fully recovers in a week. After surgery, keep the cat from strenuous activity so the wound heals, and keep an Elizabethan collar on until the wound closes to prevent licking and infection.
