How long does a cat’s awkward growth stage last?

A cat’s awkward stage generally runs from 3 to 7 months of age, lasting about 4 months. The stage varies in length and not every cat goes through it, depending on breed and constitution. During 3-7 months cats grow rapidly but lose the balance of body and coat, often looking scrawny and unattractive – hence the name. During this period the owner should provide enough nutrition to help grow a better coat and let the cat become beautiful again.
