1 African Pygmy Hedgehog Appearance

The African Pygmy Hedgehog, also called the four-toed hedgehog, is small, with white or cream fur on the belly and face and white spines mixed with black or coffee; the face may have a darker mask-like color. The lower parts of the feet are usually also darker. The ears are shorter than the spine length and surrounded by fur. As its common name suggests, unlike related species the four-toed hedgehog usually has only four toes on the feet, lacking a thumb. However, some hedgehogs may show a small bony lump instead of a thumb, or even a well-developed toe, especially on the hind feet.
