Rabbits win many hearts with their cute looks. With so many breeds, which are both pretty and easy to keep? Here are five attractive, low-difficulty choices.

1. Lionhead

Lionheads resemble Angoras but have wider, triangular ears and a mane of longer fur around the neck, like a little lion—hence the name. A newer breed from Belgium (Angora × dwarf), still not fully standardized. Temperaments vary, but most are gentle and quiet. They eat rabbit pellets, hay and clean produce, and are relatively easy to keep.

2. Lop

Lops are known for very long ears that can drag on the ground when they move. They love to sleep and are timid, but once bonded they are clingy and gentle—good for beginners. Note: they are alert with sharp hearing, so keep their environment quiet to avoid stress.

3. Angora

Angoras look like the Angora goat (their namesake) and are extremely cute and decorative. Keeping one is inexpensive: they are vegetarian; feed specialized rabbit pellets from a pet store, plus plenty of water. Their long, dense coat needs regular trimming so it doesn’t cover the eyes.

4. Panda rabbit

Panda rabbits are mostly white with two clear dark eye-patches—irresistibly cute. Curious and friendly, they suit beginners. Herbivores fed mainly on grass, with some fresh produce; avoid excess water to prevent diarrhea.

5. Mini Rex

The Mini Rex is a large, short-haired breed popular in the US. Its dense, glossy, velvety coat feels like velvet—its standout trait. Outgoing and interactive, it makes a great companion and usually has a good appetite, so it is fairly easy to keep.
