1. How often is normal

4-5 times a day is normal and tracks water intake. Over 7-8 times a day, or 2-3 times in an hour with small output, suggests frequent urination, which needs cause-based treatment.

2. Why cats urinate often

Many causes: too much water, or urinary disease such as bladder stones, urea stones, pyometra, or a urinary tract infection. It comes with small volume and straining, sometimes blood. If intake is normal but frequency is high, see a vet; if frequency rose only with higher drinking and falls when drinking drops, it is likely fine.

3. Diagnosis

See a vet for abdominal ultrasound, blood count, biochemistry, and DR imaging to find the cause. Stones show on DR and ultrasound; inflammation shows on blood and biochemistry.

4. What to do

Hormone-driven over-urination needs an endocrine check; if abnormal, oral hormones.

Infection needs antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs plus daily hygiene.

Stones need imaging to locate and size them, then drugs or surgery by severity.

Care during treatment: 1. More water 40-60 ml per kg per day to lower stone risk. 2. Feed a urinary prescription diet. 3. Lower stress; use clean, odorless litter.
