How long after birth can a dog’s nails be trimmed?

Generally, the owner can trim a dog’s nails 45 days after birth, when the nails have grown fairly long. If left too long, they may embed into the paw pads and harm the body. But some highly active dogs wear their nails down and they do not grow long easily, so the owner can decide whether to trim based on growth.
