In the first 10 days of pregnancy a hamster shows little change, but after mating the female becomes more aggressive and may fight the male, so separate them promptly.
After about 10 days, the nipples gradually enlarge and the abdominal ‘double row of buttons’ becomes obvious. The hamster may start nesting, eat more, move less, become irritable and show a larger belly.
Owners should keep the hamster warm and appropriately increase feeding.
