What happens if a cat is free-roaming?

Free-roaming has pros and cons. Cats love freedom and roaming gives them space and exercise, reducing destructive behavior at home.

But the outdoors is risky; they may catch parasites or skin disease, or meet sick stray cats and catch distemper or rhinotracheitis, so prevention is needed. Many are also hit by cars or taken by people who abuse cats.
