British Shorthairs are gentle and adapt well to new environments, rarely becoming anxious or stressed. They are curious and explore, occasionally causing mischief, but are mostly quiet, tolerant and rarely scratch owners, suiting novice owners.

They are also greedy, so without portion control they easily become obese.
