If a cat drinks beer it may develop alcohol poisoning, because cats cannot break down alcohol. After drinking, the cat may wobble, become disoriented and have a rapid heartbeat; large intake can cause kidney failure or even death and also damages the liver. Alcohol also irritates the cat’s brain nerves, causing temporary nerve paralysis, and in severe cases it can trigger meningitis and paralysis. Keep all alcohol and alcoholic drinks stored away, and if your cat shows vomiting or confusion after drinking, take it to the vet promptly.
