How does a cat show it wants to be picked up?

When a cat wants to be held, it usually comes to you on its own, rubs against you, circles around your legs, or even climbs onto you. Some cats act like children and hug your leg while looking up at you; don’t ignore it – stroke its chin or the top of its head.

If the cat enjoys it, it may jump onto you and settle into a comfortable spot. During everyday interaction, occasionally offer a treat so the cat becomes increasingly gentle and affectionate.
