If a cat does not eat and is lethargic but otherwise shows no symptoms, it may simply be anorexia or pickiness; if it refuses even its favorite food, it is very likely sick. Many reasons can cause a cat not to eat, so the owner should observe closely during this period.

If the cat keeps refusing food and shows lethargy, take it to the hospital for a full check-up. Start by feeding active probiotics to repair the gut, with boosting appetite as a secondary goal. Once the gut is healthy and appetite returns, the cat will eat on its own; then prepare fresh food to improve its appetite and it will gradually recover.
