A 5-year-old dog is still in its young-adult stage and generally healthy, so it can be fed the same way as an adult dog. Choose a nutritionally balanced adult dog food and feed once or twice a day; dogs with weak stomachs can be fed 3 times a day, since small frequent meals aid digestion and prevent indigestion.

It is also recommended to brush the dog’s teeth regularly, because after seven or eight years of age dogs easily develop tartar, loose teeth, and stomatitis, which seriously affect their quality of life in old age. So owners should take preventive measures early. Finally, deworm on schedule: external deworming about once a month and internal deworming every 2 to 3 months.
