How do you stop a puppy’s bleeding?

When a puppy is bleeding from an injury, press the wound promptly with sterile gauze or a clean handkerchief. If resources are limited, pressing with clothing or tissue also works. Once bleeding stops, trim the hair around the wound, rinse it with saline, then apply iodine and antibiotic ointment, changing the dressing daily for about five to seven days of clear improvement.

If the wound is large or deep, press it first and then visit a vet to see whether bandaging or sutures are needed.
