What medicine can I give a hamster with a cold?

For a hamster cold you can give small amounts of banlangen (isatis root), honey, and antibiotics such as roxithromycin dispersible tablets or quinolones. If the cold is mild, first keep it warm, then coat one banlangen pellet with a little honey and feed it with tweezers, three times a day, one pellet each time.

If the cold is severe, you can feed roxithromycin dispersible tablets. As this is an antibiotic, control the dose carefully — too much at once can poison and kill the hamster, so give only about the size of a banlangen granule each time.
