Cat eyes are mainly round, slanted, or almond-shaped, with the almond eye being the most common. A cat’s pupils change with light intensity. In strong light the pupils become very thin, contracting into a vertical slit. As light fades, the pupils gradually enlarge and round out, becoming large and round in very dim conditions.
In addition, when a cat feels nervous or afraid, its pupils also enlarge.
