Are Pomeranians smart?

Pomeranians are smart. They rank 23rd in overall dog intelligence and 5th among common small breeds, placing them fairly high. Pomeranians are lively and cheerful, alert, and very receptive to new things. It is best to start training early; generally at three months old a Pomeranian can begin simple training such as housebreaking, shaking hands, and sitting. Building good training habits early makes later training progressively easier.
