If a dog changes owners before six months of age, it may not remember the original owner. But if it changes owners after six months and had a deep bond with the original owner, it will usually remember them.

The dog may become sad and depressed after the change. The new owner needs to give enough patience and love, spend time with the dog, and wait until its longing for the old owner fades and it accepts you as the new owner.

Even so, the dog will still remember the original owner and, when meeting them again, recognize and greet them very warmly and excitedly.
