① Dryness:

② Friction:

Since people constantly touch and move objects, static is easily carried.

Charge from friction quickly dissipates on conductive objects like metal;

Measures to prevent static

Here’s how to prevent static:

1. Use hand cream

Owners should apply hand cream often — it protects and softens hands and avoids dry-hand static.

2. Wipe the cat with a damp towel

Wiping the cat’s body with a damp towel helps prevent static and cleans at the same time. Don’t make it too wet.

3. Use a humidifier

Static tends to form below 35% humidity and barely forms above 65%; 50–60% is ideal. A humidifier keeps indoor air from drying and makes static unlikely.

4. Use anti-static spray and comb

There are many anti-static products — e.g., pet anti-static spray reduces static on the coat, and anti-static combs neutralize charge while grooming.

5. Improve the cat’s diet:

Improve the diet with more amino acids and fatty acids, or try a coat-supplement product to improve fur quality and reduce static.
