Like us, age or weak legs makes pooping hard, since it needs leg strength.

Unlike us, a sitting toilet spares the legs; a dog can only squat, so the muscles must work.

Walking while pooping solves this; as muscles weaken, it relies on it more.

In short, normal in old age; if young and growing common, consider a check-up.

2. Marking

Like urine, stool marks territory.

Defecating releases more anal-gland scent; walking while doing it spreads even more – a sign of a territorial dog.

3. Habit

You can get used to smoking on the toilet, so a dog can get used to walking while pooping. Guide it to correct this.

A dog’s mood affects stool quality.
