Why does my dog have many black spots on its body?

Black spots on a dog can be normal pigment deposits or caused by disease such as parasitic disease, folliculitis, external parasite infection, or other skin conditions. If the dog only has black spots with no other symptoms, it is likely normal pigmentation and nothing to worry about.

If the dog also has itching, hair loss, or scabs, the spots are probably disease-related and you should take the dog to a veterinary clinic for diagnosis and treatment.
