A dog sticking its tongue out may be too hot and is panting to release heat. If so, move it to a cool, shady spot and give water to prevent heatstroke or dehydration.

Thirst or salty food can also make a dog pant with its tongue out. Avoid salty food and don’t feed human food, which burdens the kidneys and stomach.
