Why do few people keep Siamese cats?

Although Siamese cats are cute and quite famous in China, they have many drawbacks, so few people keep them. First, their personality is a bit like a dog’s: they are noisy, mischievous like children, and yowl often, which makes them unsuitable for people who prefer a quiet cat.

Second, because Siamese cats are very active, they do not gain weight easily. Yet many owners prefer chubby, cute cats, so their build is not especially appealing.

Finally, as an imported purebred, Siamese cats are pricey, and the monthly cost of keeping one adds up to a significant expense that not everyone can afford.
