Why do dogs get canine parvovirus?

There are many reasons a dog may get canine parvovirus, commonly poor diet, chilling, poor living conditions, internal parasite infection, or contact with a source of infection. After infection, dogs usually show lethargy, reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody stool, and a messy coat.

Without timely treatment, the dog can become dehydrated and may even die. Parvovirus is prevented by regular vaccination, so owners should keep their dog’s shots up to date. If you suspect parvovirus, get the dog to a veterinary hospital as soon as possible.
