A Siamese cat’s coat pattern basically settles at about 12 months. But the depth of color changes with age, body temperature and environment; lower temperature darkens the coat and older age blackens it.
This happens because the coat holds active tyrosinase whose activity depends on temperature, which is uncontrollable; once it drops, the color deepens.
