A pond turtle generally reaches sexual maturity around 5 years and full maturity at about 7. After maturity it mates in mid-April and females lay from May to August.

Females lay 3 to 4 times a year, 5 to 7 eggs each. About a month after successful mating they lay; prepare an incubator with controlled temperature and humidity, and eggs hatch in about 80 days.
