When does a mother cat stop producing milk?

A mother cat usually stops producing milk about a month and a half after the kittens are born. The nursing period is about a month and a half, during which the kittens start weaning and the mother’s milk gradually decreases; generally about 5 to 7 days after weaning, the mother stops lactating.

During the drying-up period, the owner should not give her too much nutrition, letting the milk gradually stop. Once the mother cat has stopped lactating, even if she nurses again there will be no milk.
