1 Is It a Cold?

Clear, watery nasal discharge points to a common cold rather than rhinotracheitis. A common cold is usually mild; if there’s no fever or red eyes, you can simply observe for a while.

First check the nose. A healthy cat has a moist nose, though it may be dry right after sleep.

A persistently dry nose can mean fever — take the temperature. Normal is 38–39.2°C (100.4–102.6°F); 39.2–39.5°C is slightly warm, over 40.5°C (104.9°F) is high. See a vet if the temperature is above 39.5°C (103.1°F) or below 38°C (100.4°F). In hot summer, a warm room can raise it by up to about 1°C.

2 Prevention and Care

Keep the living space clean — wash and disinfect the bed often, add a small pad in a warm spot, and scoop the litter box promptly.

Add nutrition: boiled meat, or fruit and vegetables; kittens can have goat-milk formula and milk biscuits.

In fall and winter, when weather shifts fast, watch your cat closely — keep it warm, monitor spirit and appetite, and consider an immune-boosting nutrient paste.
