What to do if a Teddy (poodle) has diarrhea with blood?

Bloody diarrhea in a Teddy can come from an intestinal laceration by a foreign object, parasite infection, hemorrhagic enteritis, or a virus damaging the gut lining. First give a hemostatic shot to avoid excessive blood loss, then examine the dog to find the cause and treat it.

If the stool has a clear foul smell along with low appetite, vomiting, lethargy, or fever, it is likely distemper or parvovirus infection; while treating the symptoms, start antiviral therapy promptly.
