What should I do about excessive eye discharge in my cat?

For excessive eye discharge, first wipe the cat’s eyes clean, then find the cause. Many things can cause it: heat, herpesvirus infection, calicivirus infection, conjunctivitis, or genetic factors. Persian cats, due to genetics and poor tear drainage, easily develop more eye discharge.

If the cat shows other abnormal symptoms beyond the discharge, take it to a veterinary hospital to confirm the cause and apply the right treatment.
