Turtle mating mostly happens in late spring to early summer. Before mating, the male sniffs the female’s cloaca with his nose, then chases her. If she refuses, she flees; he keeps chasing and bumping until mounting her back.
After about 10 minutes the male finishes and climbs down. If she conceived, she usually lays eggs about a month later.
