Pugs are lively and cheerful, warm to people but proud and sometimes stubborn, and may defy an owner whose ideas differ. They are also intelligent; despite a silly look they train more easily than many dogs. Finally, they are especially friendly to the elderly and children and stable in temper, rarely biting without cause.
